The Western Woodlands of Ethiopia

A study of the woody vegetation and flora between the Ethiopian Highlands and the lowlands of the Nile Valley in the Sudan and South Sudan

The Western Woodlands of Ethiopia is the first monograph on the western woodlands in Ethiopia - an overlooked area in the study of the Ethiopian flora that has so far focused more on the mountains, the dense forests, or the large eastern bushlands with acacias and Commiphora.

The book contains a rich collection of text, photography, maps, diagrams and graphs, all based on fieldwork, studies of herbaria, and thorough data analyses. A detailed atlas provides information about the distribution of the species of tree and the three most common types of forest savannahs in western Ethiopia.
